Since the beginning of 2017, all Emmi locations in Switzerland have been supplied with hydropower, thus reducing its annual CO2 emissions by 14,500 tonnes.

The Emmi Group owns 36 sites in Switzerland, ranging from a small village cheese dairy to a traditional industrial plant with over 600 employees. In total, these sites consume around 110 gigawatt hours of electricity a year. Since the beginning of 2017, all the power at the sites has been hydro-electric, allowing us to reduce our annual CO2 emissions by 14,500 tonnes – an amount equivalent to a quarter of our total CO2 emissions in Switzerland.

The electricity is produced by hydraulic power stations and reservoirs in Europe, predominantly in the Nordic countries.
